The Control System of Novosibirsk Free Electron Laser Facility and Users’ Stations

The Novosibirsk free electron laser (FEL) is a source of coherent radiation with the ability of wavelength tuning. It is based on a multiturn energy recovery linac, which involves one single-turn and one four-turn microtron-recuperator. There are three different free electron lasers, mounted on different tracks of these accelerators. Each FEL operates on different electron beam energy and has different wavelength range and power of generated radiation. The whole FEL facility is a complex physics installation; therefore, for effective control and monitoring of the FEL operation state and its parameters, the particularized control system was developed. In this article, the main features, hardware, and software compound parts used in this control system are considered. Aspects of interaction of this control system with users’ stations are also considered.
