Abstract

This paper presents studies of the Hall and Nernst–Ettingshausen effects in thin multilayer Co/Pd films formed on semi-insulating gallium arsenide substrates using electron beam deposition in vacuum. The presence of ordinary and anomalous components of the effects is demonstrated. The dominant contribution of the anomalous component for both effects is established, attributed to the presence of spin-dependent electron scattering. A description of a technique for measuring the thermomagnetic effect in thin metal films is provided, a key feature of which is the ability to measure the temperature gradient with high accuracy.
