Calculation of the Indium Phase Diagram Based on Similarity Laws Associated with the Zeno Line

Abstract

The liquid-gas coexistence curve (binodal) for indium in the density–temperature plane was calculated using similarity laws associated with the Zeno line and numerical modeling based on the embedded atom method. A previously developed model was employed, which accounts for the general asymptotic properties of the binodal derived from critical phenomena theory and the applied similarity laws. This model had been previously validated for substances with known binodals and successfully applied to several metals for which the binodal position and critical points cannot yet be determined through experiments or more rigorous computational methods. Additionally, the liquid density along the indium crystallization line was calculated using the embedded atom method for pressures and temperatures obtained from experimental data. Until now, no literature data on this density has been available.
