Analysis of the Influence of Free Stream Turbulence on the Flow in a Supersonic Air Intake by the RANS/ILES(i) Method: Various Modes of Operation of an Air Intake
摘要
Calculations of a model supersonic mixed-compression air intake were performed using the combined RANS/ILES(i) method. The calculations were carried out on a block-structured grid containing 9 × 106 cells at different turbulence levels of the oncoming flow and air intake throttling. Turbulence was introduced by adding a homogeneous isotropic velocity pulsation field generated using the synthetic eddy method to the inlet boundary. For various parameters of oncoming flow turbulence, the dependences of the total pressure recovery factor, static pressure, pressure and velocity pulsation intensities, and other flow parameters averaged in the outlet section of the air intake were obtained on the mass flux ratio. The influence of the scale of turbulent eddies on the structure of instantaneous and averaged velocity fields in the air intake channel is analyzed.
