Calculation of Velocity, Temperature, and Their Fluctuations in a T-Shaped Water Mixer at Various Temperatures Using Eddy-Resolving Approaches to Turbulence Modeling

Abstract
A comparative study of the capabilities of various global and zonal scale-resolving approaches to turbulence modeling for predicting average and fluctuation characteristics of heat transfer in pipelines with T-junctions is carried out. It is shown that the best agreement with experimental data is provided by the zonal RANS‒IDDES approach. It is demonstrated that this method is applicable to calculating more complex configurations with main pipe turns located upstream of the T-junction. A parametric study of such configurations is carried out.
