Regular Temperature Pulsations in Graphite Samples under Quasi-Stationary Joule Heating

Abstract—
We describe temperature pulsations appearing after exposure of samples in the argon atmosphere at a temperature of about 3 kK, when for increasing exposure time to above ~1 × 103 s, an increase in the sample temperature has been compensated by a stepwise decrease in the heating current. The pulsation thermograms have the form of a sequence of pulses of the same shape and a duration of 0.3–1.0 s; the relative amplitude of pulsations has reached ~1%. The reasons for the emergence of pulsations are considered.
