Abstract <p>This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the modification of genuine leather shoe uppers using nonequilibrium low-temperature plasma (NLTP). It has been found that double plasma treatment increases the shape stability of footwear by 13.5%, the sole attachment strength by 12%, and the thread bond strength by 11% without reducing vapor permeability. A comprehensive analysis of the deformation and viscoelastic properties of the material has been conducted to confirm an improved redistribution of deformation components toward plasticity and an increased instantaneous elastic modulus.</p>
