A Study on the Influence of Nonequilibrium Low-Temperature Plasma on the Shape Stability of the Upper of Genuine Leather Shoes

Abstract
This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the modification of genuine leather shoe uppers using nonequilibrium low-temperature plasma (NLTP). It has been found that double plasma treatment increases the shape stability of footwear by 13.5%, the sole attachment strength by 12%, and the thread bond strength by 11% without reducing vapor permeability. A comprehensive analysis of the deformation and viscoelastic properties of the material has been conducted to confirm an improved redistribution of deformation components toward plasticity and an increased instantaneous elastic modulus.
