Abstract <p>The effect of plasma treatment and impregnation with a flame retardant on the properties of blended fabrics has been studied, while primarily aiming at imparting fire retardancy to the fabrics without deteriorating their performance and hygienic characteristics. It has been found that plasma modification of cotton–polyester fabrics leads to a 30% increase in their capillarity and a 1.5-fold increase in their breaking strength. The results of the study have confirmed that this combined treatment does not deteriorate the quality of the fabric, while providing a high flame retardancy level.</p>
