Plasma Synthesis of Hafnium Carbide and Production of a Bulk Ceramic Sample Based on It

Abstract
The paper presents the results of experimental studies on the production of hafnium carbide powder by the atmospheric arc technique and the use of the synthesis product for sintering a bulk ceramic sample. X-ray phase analysis and scanning electron microscopy of the synthesis product and the bulk ceramic sample have been carried out. It has been shown that after consolidation, the bulk ceramic sample has a density of 99.1% and a hardness of 17 GPa.
