Hypothetical Possibility of Formation of Octaoxidane in Discharge Plasma with Cavitation

Abstract
The characteristics of water treated with cavitation-assisted electric discharge plasma have been studied. In the discharge itself, hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen and oxygen atoms are generated. With the cyclic passage of water through the discharge area, secondary products are formed that have oxidizing, reducing, and slightly alkaline properties. The yield of oxidizing and reducing agents was measured depending on the dose (total energy) deposited in the discharge. The results obtained give reason to assume that during the cyclic treatment of water with the cavitation-assisted discharge, octaoxidane H2O8 is formed in the liquid. The H2O8 concentration at a dose of 240 J/10 mL is ~10−3 mol/L.
