Distribution of the Flea Monopsyllus sciurorum sciurorum (Schrank, 1803) (Siphonaptera, Ceratophyllidae) in the Wild and in Fur Farms
摘要
Abstract
The flea Monopsyllus sciurorum sciurorum (Schrank, 1803), a parasite of the red squirrel Sciurus vulgaris (L., 1758), is distributed throughout Europe and Western Siberia and can be found on 70 species of hosts. Its parasitism on minks constitutes a major problem for fur farming in some European countries. We have analyzed the host species composition and the conditions of parasitism of M. s. sciurorum on minks at the Savvatyevo fur farm in Tver Province of Russia.
