Abstract <p> In this work, we discuss a characteristic decomposition of a perfectly conducting,compressible and inviscid flow governed by <InlineEquation ID="IEq1"> <InlineMediaObject> <ImageObject Color="BlackWhite" FileRef="10625_2025_2820_Article_IEq1.gif" Format="GIF" Height="14" Rendition="HTML" Resolution="72" Type="Linedraw" Width="10" /> </InlineMediaObject> <EquationSource Format="TEX">\(2\)</EquationSource> </InlineEquation>-D isentropic Eulersystem in magnetohydrodynamics within the context of a general equation of state. Thisdecomposition allows us to imply that a simple wave region exists adjacent to a constant region,regardless the coefficients depending on independent variables. Moreover, aforementioned resultholds true to full Euler system in magnetohydrodynamics throughout a region whosecharacteristics are extended to a constant state.</p>
