Abstract <p>This paper presents numerical simulations and experimental data on combustion within the porous medium of a cylindrical burner with axial fuel supply. Filtration combustion is simulated using a two-temperature thermodiffusion model that accounts for radiative heat exchange at the surfaces. The simulation results provide the temperature distributions in both the gas and the porous solid, as well as the radiation fluxes inside and outside the cylindrical porous layer. The computational results show satisfactory agreement with the experimental data obtained from propane-air mixture combustion in the porous burner. The effect of external thermal insulation on the characteristics and efficiency of the burner is also discussed.</p>
