Effect of Fuel Composition on Sooting in Engines and Power Plants

Abstract
This paper presents a review of papers on sooting during combustion of fuels made of biocomponents, including brief information on the mechanism, stages, and key factors of sooting. The representatives of various groups of oxygenated biofuels are analyzed in terms of their influence on the sooting level. There are generally accepted characteristics of the soot emission level for hydrocarbon fuels, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
