Simulation of Ignition of Composites by Particles Heated to a High Temperature

Abstract
Ignition of a wooden structure by a set of heated particles is numerically simulated. The problem is considered in Cartesian coordinates in a three-dimensional formulation. It is revealed that the ignition of an initial reagent is determined by the processes of heat exchange with a fire source, drying, and dry wood pyrolysis, as well as oxidation reactions of carbon monoxide, methane, and hydrogen. It is revealed how the ignition delay time of the wood material depends on initial temperatures of reagents and heated particles, as well as on the number of heated particles. Calculation results are qualitatively compared with known data.
