Abstract—

The characteristics, composition of metabolites, and biotechnological properties of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens are presented in this review. This review contains a description of the genetic tools and metabolic capabilities of B. amyloliquefaciens, emphasizing the potential of the bacterium as a base cell for metabolic engineering and protein expression. The role of bacteria in the production of chemicals, enzymes, and other industrial bioproducts, as well as their application for combating pathogenic bacteria and improving the intestinal health, is discussed. In agriculture, B. amyloliquefaciens demonstrated potential as a biofertilizer and a biocontrol agent with antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. Despite numerous potential areas of application, B. amyloliquefaciens remains insufficiently studied. This review highlights the need for further studies and development of advanced engineering methods and technologies of gene editing specifically for B. amyloliquefaciens, which will ultimately allow us to realize completely the potential of its application both in studies and in industry.
