Abstract

According to its structure, the Earth’s crust is constantly experiencing tectonic stresses, the impact of endogenic forces on a unit volume of crust, which largely determine the morphology and dynamics of its near-surface horizons. There are three main types of stress: compression, extension, and shear. In this paper, using the example of Deception Island, the manifestation of modern tectonic stresses in conditions of an active island volcano is considered.
