Features of the Formation and Modern Structure of the Elenina Bank (Sea of Azov)

The Elenina Bank is an underwater accumulative form in the eastern Sea of Azov. It formed as an subaerial free type accumulative form about 2.5–1.7 ka, but during the subsequent rise in sea level, it found itself underwater. Information about the modern structure of the Elenina Bank was obtained from remote sensing data. Currently, the is about 40 km long and up to 5 km wide, with minimum depths of 1.5–2 m. Studies have shown that, despite its relict origin, the Elenina Bank is currently an active accumulative form and affects the lithodynamic regime of the adjacent part of the Sea of Azov.
