Results of Detailed Paleoseismological and Tectonophysical Studies in the Area of the Keret Archipelago of the White Sea
摘要
Using the example of the territory of one of the islands of the Keret Archipelago (Sidorov Island), the methodology is considered and the results of studying the consequences of strong historical earthquakes by identifying the morphological disturbances of the relief are presented. An analysis of the structural features of detected seismic dislocations is carried out in order to assess their strength and location, as well as to predict the possibility of earthquakes occurring here in the future. Specific local destruction recorded in the territory of the Keret Archipelago indicate the need to clarify the seismic hazard assessment of this region, in the recent tectonic history of which there are a number of unclear points. According to preliminary estimates, strong (M0 ≥ 6) earthquakes occurred in this territory in the Holocene (in the 10th–4th centuries BC).
