Using the Stacking-InSAR Method to Analyze Forest Canopy Height Change

Abstract—The fundamental possibility of quantitatively assessing the dynamics of continuous canopy height of mature and young pine forests on the plain using the weighted summation of time series of unwrapped interferometric phases is shown. The latter are obtained using an approach based on cloud computations. Rates of growth of the forest canopy height for 2017, 2018, and 2019, calculated from satellite radar data, are confirmed by the results of ground-based field studies. It is shown that the amount of growth depends, among other things, on the amount of precipitation in May–July of the current year.
