Boosting enterprise performance: an integrated model from market orientation and organizational capability
摘要
In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, companies must continually adapt to shifting market conditions, technological advancements, and competitive pressures to sustain growth and achieve long-term success. A dynamic environment requires strategic flexibility, innovation, and the effective utilization of organizational capabilities. Firms that fail to respond proactively to these changes risk losing their competitive advantage. This study introduces the MOOCP (market orientation • organizational capability • performance) model, examining the impact of market orientation, organizational capabilities, and the mediating roles of brand and innovation performance on the operational performance of SMEs and large firms in the Taiwanese market. A total of 219 valid responses were collected from various industries, encompassing a range of company sizes, ages, and types. Using PLS-SEM in SmartPLS and LISREL analyses, the study examines the significance of market orientation (intelligence generation, dissemination, and response) and organizational capabilities (network ties and learning capabilities) in driving brand and innovation performance, ultimately improving operational performance. All hypotheses are supported. When a company adopts a market-oriented or adaptive strategy, it must simultaneously cultivate and enhance its business network connectivity and learning capabilities. These capabilities enable the firm to internalize market-oriented strategies and translate them into effective organizational actions, thereby achieving strong brand and innovation performance within the industry and generating solid operational outcomes. The implications of socio-organizational or cross-cultural issues are also explored to deepen the understanding of the MOOCP model’s implementations. The findings underscore the importance of aligning market orientation with organizational capabilities to attain long-term competitive advantages in dynamic environments, offering both theoretical contributions and practical implications for firm managers.
