The mediating role of meeaningful life between boredom and relationship satisfaction in married couples with dyadic approach
摘要
Relationship satisfaction plays a crucial role in the overall well-being of married couples. The goal of this research was to explore the indirect associations of a meaningful life within marriage in the relationship between boredom and relationship satisfaction, focusing on both the actor and partner perspectives. To achieve this, the study utilized the Actor–Partner Interdependence Mediation Model (APIMeM), applying a dyadic approach to data collected from 511 married couples (N = 1022). The average age of the women was 34.41 years (SD = 10.348), while the average age of the men was 37.23 years (SD = 10.980). The results indicate that the associations among boredom, meaningful life, and relationship satisfaction were significant for both genders. It was found that the boredom experienced by each partner was indirectly related to their own relationship satisfaction through the other partner’s meaningful life in the marriage, highlighting partner effects. Specifically, women’s boredom was indirectly associated with their relationship satisfaction via men’s meaningful life. Similarly, women’s meaningful life was indirectly related to the association between men’s boredom and relationship satisfaction.
