<p>Conversing with Laura Shepherd in <i>The Self and Other Stories</i>, this essay considers accompaniment, embodiment, expertise, and representation through a care-infused lens. I present my readings of contentions in her book, and ask what it means to view position, power, and presence in writing. Through my reading, I present Shepherd’s vulnerability as a mode of writing justice, despite its absences.</p>
