<p>Shareholder activism is a widely observed and crucial phenomenon that has received significant attention in the corporate governance literature. This study investigates and consolidates the empirical studies on shareholder activism in India to address the absence of a current literature review about emerging economies. The shareholder activism literature was examined using a comprehensive literature review that strongly emphasizes methodological reliability and transparency. The study focuses on papers that have been published since 2000 since they highlight the significant advancements made in the area of shareholder activism. The authors classify various studies conducted on shareholder activism into three clusters: ‘Precursors,’ ‘Processes,’ and ‘Outcomes.’ This literature review enhances the understanding of shareholder activism literature by identifying specific topics of research that, if explored, might contribute to the current knowledge and guide future research endeavors.</p>
