摘要

Based on the natural resource-based view, this study examined the links between green innovation adoption and hotel business performance. We argued that green innovation adoption would yield better performance only for hotels with more intensive network ties and stronger absorptive capacity. Survey data from 431 three-and-above-star hotels in Vietnam were used to test the model. While the analysis showed a negative effect of green innovation adoption on performance, it supported our arguments about the roles of supply chain network tie intensity and two dimensions of absorptive capacity in mitigating such an effect. This study’s findings enriched the extant green innovation literature with evidence from an Asian context and advanced the theoretical perspective by showing that green innovation may not be the game for all hotels, and building intensive network ties with external others and enhancing absorptive capacity are strategies to resolve green innovation adoption-performance conflict.
