摘要

This article offers an account of the disappearance of anamorphosis from Jacques Lacan’s analysis of visuality between Seminar XI and Seminar XIII. In the former, anamorphosis is deployed as a central example for demonstrating the role of the objet a in the constitution of the visual field. In Seminar XIII, however, Lacan’s account is markedly different. Following Lacan’s invocation of Erwin Panofsky, I attempt to explicate the significance of this disappearance and its relevance for Lacan’s conceptions of fantasy and subjectivity.
