<p>This essay pays homage to Mari’s Ruti’s influence as a critical thinker by examining autotheory and psychoanalysis (particularly Freudian-Lacanian) as co-discourses, and by pointing to what she has done to bring them together. It centers its consideration on both Lacan’s conceptualization of the Möbius strip (a graphic figuration of the structure of subjectivity in which inside and outside, self and Other, personal and structural, are seamlessly intermixed) and his formulas of sexuation (which figure feminine structure as an avowal of the speaking subject as a discursive site.) Taking <i>Penis Envy</i> as its test case, it further discusses the ethical effects of self-theorizing as well as its distinctive ability to transmit unconscious desire.</p>
