<p>This paper aims to provide a socio-psychoanalytic description of the late modern psyche by turning to psychoanalyst Jessica Benjamin and further uniting her theory of intersubjectivity with sociologist Hartmut Rosa’s contemporary analysis. It claims that Western culture is characterized by omnipotence and that a new differentiation of self and world is needed where intersubjectivity must be promoted to create a society that safeguards equality, democracy and ethics. It is proposed that a synthesis of Benjamin’s and Rosa’s theories offer a powerful framework for navigating individual and societal challenges in the pursuit of greater human contact and understanding.</p>
