Is racism a superegoic construct?
摘要
Noting with Octave Mannoni and Frantz Fanon the nihilistic temptation to produce a world without humans in the dying colonial world, Aimé Césaire associated the colonial psychology that made this temptation possible with that which fascism/nazism had produced in Europe at the same time. By re-examining Wilhelm Reich's proposal concerning the mass psychology of fascism, this article looks at why the superego is not a psychoanalytic concept mobilized by the first wave of Freudo-Marxism, and what use could be made of it anyway to measure the political effects of the alliance between Superego and death drive.
