Optics-inspired foundations for near-field wireless communications
摘要
As carrier frequencies increase and antenna arrays grow larger, future wireless systems are inevitably transitioning into a near-field (NF)-dominated regime. Efficient NF communication is therefore essential for 6G, but remains challenging due to the presence of spherical wavefronts and high-dimensional channel characteristics. This paper offers a fresh perspective by uncovering theoretical and phenomenological parallels between NF propagation and optical principles and proposes optics-inspired strategies to fundamentally advance NF communication techniques.
