Simultaneous anomalous reflection and polarization conversion from a tensorial impedance metasurface
摘要
We demonstrate a method for designing metasurfaces that both anomalously reflect and polarization-convert upon reflection, using two examples that convert a transverse-magnetic-polarized plane wave into 1) a transverse-electric-polarized plane wave, and 2) a circularly polarised plane wave. This is achieved by calculating the family of tensorial surface impedance distributions that fufill the desired wave transformation and subsequently choosing the distribution that is most physically realizable. We then validate the designs experimentally by approximating the impedance profiles with metasurfaces consisting of patch resonators closely spaced from a ground plane.
