Repurposing medications to prevent psychosis
摘要
Individuals who experience schizophrenias often had premorbid signs. However, they rarely develop psychosis until adolescence or young adulthood, a period of brain remodeling. Current efforts to reduce risk for psychosis have shown only modest benefit. This paper reviews evidence on mechanisms that may underlie the development of psychosis. Based on that evidence, it identifies existing medications that target these mechanisms and may be repurposed to prevent progression to psychosis.
