摘要

Aggressiveness in the workplace affects millions of professionals working in hospital. For those who are exposed, the resulting stress and anxiety can lead to a significant decline in their quality of work life, impair their ability to perform tasks, and contribute directly or indirectly to absenteeism. Aim and design: through a flash survey conducted within a dental medicine department in a French University Hospital, we estimated the frequency at which hospital staff and dental students were exposed to aggressive situations in the workplace. Results based on data collected from 181 participants, the estimated incidence of aggression was 55 per staff member per year (including dental students). The most frequent manifestation was verbal aggression. Dental assistants were the most exposed (p < 0.003). Conclusions: aggression in the dental workplace exists and requires preventive measures and management of these situations from the training stage onwards, as well as support for employees.
