Chemical degradation of remazol dye by using Tb-doped TiO2 catalyst and Photo-Fenton’s process under UV light

This study investigated the removal of Remazol Red dye from synthetic wastewater using two advanced treatment. TiO₂-based photo catalysis and the Photo-Fenton process. In the photo catalytic method, titanium dioxide (TiO₂) was used as the main catalyst. Under optimal conditions, TiO₂ achieved around 95% dye degradation after 11 h of exposure. To improve efficiency, terbium (Tb)-doped TiO₂ nanoparticles were synthesized using the co-precipitation method. The TiO₂ doped with 1% terbium showed the highest photo catalytic performance, nearly achieving complete dye removal. Characterization techniques such as XRD, FTIR, SEM with EDX confirmed that the anatase phase of TiO₂ was maintained In the Photo-Fenton process, a combination of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) and iron (Fe²⁺) was used as the catalyst. Complete dye degradation was achieved. Both methods proved highly effective in dye degradation.
