摘要

The Shiqi pigeon (Columba livia), an economically important meat breed originating from Zhongshan, China, serves as a valuable model for investigating the genetic evolution of this local breed and the evolutionary dynamics of birds. Here, we present a chromosome-level genome assembly of the Shiqi pigeon generated using PacBio HiFi reads (assembled with Hifiasm), and Hi-C data (scaffolded with ALLHiC). The final assembly spans 1.244 Gb, with a contig N50 of 17.71 Mb and a scaffold N50 of 79.50 Mb. Approximately 97.81% of the assembly is anchored to 41 chromosomes, with a BUSCO completeness of 97.7%. A total of 15,184 protein-coding genes were annotated, yielding a high-quality resource for studies of genetic architecture, evolution, and molecular breeding in pigeons.
