A global georeferenced dataset of the seed beetle Stator limbatus (Horn, 1873) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae) and its host-plant associations
摘要
The seed beetle, Stator limbatus (Horn, 1873) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae), is a highly polyphagous species with an expanding distribution beyond its native range. Here, we present a global georeferenced occurrence dataset for S. limbatus spanning 1873–2025, integrating records from scientific literature, biodiversity repositories, grey literature, and unpublished sources. The dataset includes standardized occurrence records linked to host-plant species, together with harmonized geographic coordinates, spatial accuracy estimates, host-plant taxonomic information, biogeographic status (native, non-native, or cryptogenic, as applicable) of S. limbatus and host species, and selected morphometric traits of plant pods and seeds, where available. Plant names were standardized using current global taxonomic reference databases, and each record is linked to its original source, ensuring traceability and data quality assessment. This curated and integrated dataset provides a comprehensive resource to support macroecological and biogeographic analyses, investigations of invasion dynamics, and host–plant associations of S. limbatus across different regions and environments.
