摘要

Recent projections indicate widespread increases in seasonal sea-level variability. Here, using a conceptual model, we show that even modest increases in the range of the annual sea-level cycle can alter inundation and emergence frequencies in intertidal zones and shift exposure durations from hours to days, or days to months. Given the environmental stress that this could cause, changes in seasonal sea-level variability should be considered in assessments of coastal ecosystem resilience.
