<p>Ischemic priapism is a condition where there is prolonged and painful erection of the penis that is not associated with sexual stimulation. When initial bedside management fails to achieve detumescence, surgical management is indicated. This article is an illustrative review of historic and modern surgical techniques for the management of ischemic priapism including distal shunting techniques (Winter’s, T-Shunt, Al-Ghorab, and Burnett’s), proximal shunting techniques (Quackles, Barry), and penoscrotal decompression.</p>
