Life-course brain health intervention choices are improved by applying knowledge of metaplasticity
摘要
This commentary discusses a recently published review of metaplasticity. This neuroscientific concept strengthens fetal-neonatal neurology principles and practice to promote life-course brain health. Recommended applications during interdisciplinary training will be re-enforced with career-long experiences. Greater understanding will contribute to development of brain health capital strategies that more effectively apply diagnostic and therapeutic advances. Knowledge and practice of reproductive and pregnancy health for women and their partners will improve prenatal and neonatal proactive and reactive neuroprotective intervention choices, adjusted over the lifespan to maximize intergenerational benefits.
