Alterations in serum mir-4745-5p levels and their diagnostic value in preeclampsia patients

Preeclampsia (PE), which primarily occurs after the 20th week of gestation, poses a significant threat to maternal and fetal health. MicroRNA (miRNA) has been shown to be dysregulated in PE patients. This study aimed to investigate the clinical diagnostic value of miR-4745-5p in PE patients. GSE206763 dataset was used to obtain the differentially expressed miRNAs. 80 PE patients were recruited. The expressions of miRNAs were detected by qRT-PCR assay. sReceiver operating curve (ROC) analysis and Pearson analysis was used to analyze the relationship between miR-4745-5p levels and PE progression, After analyzing the GSE206763 dataset, we obtained a total of 51 upregulated miRNAs and 15 downregulated miRNAs. Then, miR-3648, miR-4745-5p, miR-6071, miR-1915-5p, miR-16-5p expression levels were significantly increased in PE patients. Among them, the change in miR-4745-5p was the most significant. Next, ROC analysis showed that the AUCs of miR-4745-5p in PE patients from normal pregnant women were 0.902. MiR-4745-5p levels were significantly positively correlated with SBP, DBP, gestational age at delivery, proteinuria and BMI, and negatively correlated with fetal weight in PE patients. This study identifies miR-4745-5p as a promising biomarker for PE, demonstrating significant correlations with clinical characteristics and diagnostic potential. MiR-4745-5p might be a key therapeutic target for PE in future.
