摘要

The remarkable effect of geometry and architectural masterpieces in Iran, especially during the Islamic period, holds a special place in the history of art and architecture. These influences can be studied from scientific and artistic perspectives. Geometry should not only be considered as a design tool but also as a bridge between art and science. This article discusses the psychological effect of geometric patterns on the users’ minds and emotions in architectural spaces. To this end, Imam Reza Shrine (AS) was chosen as a case study. In this study, a geometric shape of the complex was presented to a select group of individuals using images on a monitor. As they looked, their brain waves were being measured for analysis. Based on the findings, staring at geometric motifs made the brain’s alpha wave activity rise, suggesting enhanced mental and spiritual calm.
