Technical art history and the study of utilitarian ethnographic objects
摘要
Technical art history is expanding beyond a traditional focus on Western fine arts to encompass diverse media, perhaps inspired by heritage science’s global inclusivity. Recent expansion has included a focus on ethnographic utilitarian objects—produced in traditional communities, not in globalized cities, and made to be useful while also meeting local aesthetic tastes. Enlarging the concept of technical art history expands the range and depth of research questions posed.
