<p>This review analyzed more than 50 years of documents related to cultural heritage lichens using Bibliometrix R-package analysis and VOSviewer software. Data, including 256 documents, were collected from the Scopus database between 1973 and 2024. Then, the dual role of lichens in cultural heritage was investigated. Next, the methods of their control and removal were examined. The results revealed that the number of publications in this field is increasing.</p><p></p>
