Morphological, ecological and chorological study of the genus Goniolimon (Plumbaginaceae) in the southeastern Europe
摘要
One of the less-studied Eurasian representatives of the Plumbaginaceae family in southeastern Europe is the genus Goniolimon. We analysed the morphological variability of nine taxa of the genus Goniolimon, with special reference to the species G. besserianum, G. heldreichii, G. incanum and G. sartorii, which have been neglected in previous studies. This study includes analysis of 17 quantitative and eight qualitative morphological characters in 1092 individuals from 41 populations in southeastern Europe and the Apennine Peninsula. The length of the calyx lobes and ribs and the position of the calyx ribs are morphological characters that have not previously been used in identification keys and descriptions of taxa of the genus Goniolimon. However, this study has shown that these morphological characters are indeed important diagnostic characters for distinguishing the species. The wingedness of the stems, the width of the middle and inner bracts, the density of spikes in the inflorescence and the number of flowers in a spikelet can be significant for distinguishing some taxa of the genus Goniolimon. An identification key for the Goniolimon species in southeastern Europe is provided, along with habitat descriptions and distribution information for G. besserianum, G. heldreichii, G. incanum and G. sartorii.
