<p>This memoir presents an overview of the academic life and scientific contributions of Professor Marco Antonio Teixeira, highlighting his pivotal role in the development of Dynamical Systems in Brazil and his lasting international influence. We revisit his early academic background, from his studies in topology and singularity theory to his decisive shift to dynamical systems following formative interactions with leading figures in the field. Particular emphasis is given to his pioneering contributions to the theory of discontinuous dynamical systems. The memoir concludes with tributes presented during the XIII Workshop on Dynamical Systems, held in celebration of his 80th birthday.</p>
