<p>The logging sector plays a critical role in the wood supply chain and forest management, yet there is a lack of readily available information on the economic contribution and status of logging businesses in Texas. This study, therefore, was conducted to estimate the economic contribution of the logging sector in Texas in 2021 using Impact Analysis for Planning. Furthermore, this study surveyed logging businesses to determine the current status and capacity of this sector. The logging sector contributed 8,269 total jobs, $328 million in total labor income, $416 million in total value added, and $747 million in total output in 2021. Based on the survey data, 87% of respondents were the owners of logging businesses with an average age of 54 years, and 77% had more than 20 years of experience in the sector. Respondents faced several constraints such as mill quotas and trucking availability, which prevented them from operating at full capacity. Fifty-six percent of respondents were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The results provide the sector’s updated data and offer valuable insights crucial to sustain logging operations which help improve forest management practices and ensure continuous supply of wood products to the mills.</p>
