<p>A taxonomic revision of the genus <i>Duthiea</i> Hack. in India recognizes two species: <i>D. brachypodium</i> and <i>D. bromoides</i>. <i>D. brachypodium</i> is newly recorded here from the Indian Eastern Himalaya (IEH), collected from Sikkim, which also constitutes the first generic evidence of <i>Duthiea</i> for the IEH. For each taxon, detailed information on morphology, taxonomy, nomenclatural citation, phenology, distribution and habitat are provided, accompanied by illustrations, exsiccatae and an identification key to the Indian species of the genus. Additionally, the name, <i>D. nepalensis</i> (= <i>Duthiea brachypodium</i>) is lectotypified.</p>
