<p>In Brazil, strawberry cultivation is part of socio-economic development, especially in family farming. Genetic improvement research, conducted by institutions such as State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) and Consiglio per la ricerca in agricoltura l'analisi dell'economia agraria (CREA) aims to adapt cultivars to local conditions. The article focuses on the evaluation of advanced selections and commercial strawberry cultivars in the Southern Plateau of Santa Catarina, with the aim of improving productivity and fruit quality. In the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 production cycles, in semi-hydroponic cultivation, it was observed the production parameters of the genetic materials, such as yield, total production per plant, commercial production and fresh fruit mass. In addition, in order to characterize the fruit in terms of its quality for consumption, titratable acidity, soluble solids and ratio analyses were carried out. The data was subjected to the Scott Knott mean comparison test and additionally inferred by multivariate principal component analysis (PCA). In the 2020/2021 harvest, selections such as CAV107.7, FRF 256.4 and the Pircinque cultivar outperformed the Brazilian average in terms of productivity, despite climate damage. In the subsequent harvest, the Jonica cultivar showed superior results, while Pircinque faced challenges due to intense frosts. The ratio of soluble solids to acidity (RATIO) highlighted the Pircinque cultivar as "super sweet". Firmness varied between selections and cultivars, influenced by complex interactions of environment and cultivation system. The article highlights the need to develop cultivars adapted to specific Brazilian conditions and resilient to adversity. Also, explore fruit production for a longer time. </p>
