<p><i>Verbena incompta</i> P.W.Michael, an invasive weed, commonly known as 'Purpletop Vervain', is a member of family Verbenaceae. Present communication marks the first observation of this species from union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It was found flourishing along roadsides, in wheat and paddy fields and on fallow lands at elevations between 300 and 350&#xa0;m above mean sea level. Collected specimens were processed and deposited in the Herbarium facility of the Department of Botany (HBJU) at University of Jammu, Jammu. Detailed taxonomic description, phenology, invasiveness, risk management strategies and photo plate along with illustration&#xa0;of the species are provided in the manuscript.</p>
