<p>The present study was carried out as part of a mycological survey in various regions of the Kashmir Himalaya, J and K, India. While studying rhizospheric fungal diversity of medicinal plant <i>Swertia petiolata</i> D. Don, we isolated and identified <i>Aspergillus aflatoxiformans</i> fungi for the first time from Kashmir Himalaya. The isolation and identification were done based on cultural, microscopic, and molecular characteristics using the ITS gene sequencing. The colonies appeared white and cottony on the upper side, while the reverse side ranged from light yellow to yellowish-orange. Based on the closest identification through BLAST analysis, the nucleotide sequences of 23 isolates were compared to those in the GenBank database, showing a match with varying levels of global similarity. After biodiversity literature studies, we concluded that the isolated fungi was <i>Aspergillus aflatoxiformans</i> and represents a new record for the Kashmir Himalaya.</p>
